The South Hills Trails, formerly known (but still also referred to) as the Indian Springs Trails, is a trail system located south of Twin Falls, Idaho. Featuring over 40 miles of trail on BLM land, the area is open to hiking, trail riding, horseback riding, mountain biking, and motorized use.
TLDR;
Expect plenty of solitude while traversing off the beaten path, with a variety of plains and desert terrain ranging from sandy trails to a few short rock-strewn technical climbs/ descents, along with the double-track connector segments.
How to find it
The South Hills Trails can be navigated to on Google Maps by looking up the “Indian Springs Trail Head.

A trail destination for regional riders, much of the trail in the South Hills area is sandy, high plains-style riding that can take a bit more effort to push through.

The highlight of our day was two-fold: negotiating the technical climb up past the “Little Moab” area (how many trails have this name?) and the picturesque descent down into the canyon.

I travel with an all-mountain style trail bike, which is capable of all types of riding, including lift-assisted bike parks. I imagine locals enjoy these trails the most on hardtail or XC dual suspension trail bikes. With miles of trails, this area is a local XC destination. My 30-something-pound 6″ travel mountain bike was overkill for the terrain, short of the hucks off rocks while playing in the Little Moab zone.
