Located near McCall, Idaho, the Brundage Mountain Resort is best known for having some of the best snow in Idaho, but during the summer, Brundage Mountain opens miles of trails to mountain biking. The bike park experience is ideal for cross-country mountain bikers looking to develop their skills and explore new trails with the benefit of a lift service. With over 30 miles of single-track trails to explore, the mountain offers breathtaking views riders will want to stop to appreciate.
TLDR; The Bike Park at the Brundage Mountain Resort features over 30 miles of single-track mountain bike trails with lift service. With a summit elevation of 7,803 feet, the mountain offers panoramic views and 16 signed trails.

The experience provides access to a 12-mile trail ride that descends 17,000 vertical feet over three trails back to the starting point.

Brundage Bike Park: a ‘Super’ XC Experience
If you’re seeking lift-assisted mountain biking with beautiful views and epic scenery, this is the place. Riders will be best served upon a bike with durable tires and some rear suspension travel, as much of the terrain is rocky.

There are five beginner trails (green) and nine intermediate (blue) trails to explore. If you’re looking to ride them in a day, you’ll want to bring lots of snacks and have logged your training miles. Smokey’s Bar and Grill, the restaurant at the mountain, is open during the summer season if you don’t pack a lunch; I’m pleased to report they had a gluten-free bun for my burger!
There are also two black diamond trails technical enough to warrant a full-face helmet in addition to knee armor. The most memorable trail of the two is the technical Hidden Valley Trail. One of the two black diamond-rated DH trails, the rocky chute is one of the most scenic descents I’ve enjoyed outside of the Whistler Bike Park.

While the trails are gravity-fed and lift-served, the trails aren’t all downhill; some pedaling is required, and I found myself describing the riding experience as a “super XC” experience.
The Brundage to Bear Basin Trail Experience
In addition to the lift-served trails at the bike park, Bundage Mountain offers a lift-assisted epic riding experience that connects from the Mountain Resort to the Bear Basic Trails. Brundage even offers a (B2BB) Brundage to Bear Basin) shuttle that picks up riders from the trailhead just a few miles outside of town and takes you to the resort. Then you take the Bluebird Express lift to the summit for a 12-mile ride that connects the bike park trail to the Bear Basin Trail System.
If you wanted to go even bigger, you could ride back into town, or add other routes to create a longer riding experience. (we didn’t even do all the trails at the resort and I was cooked after getting a taste of the park followed by the B2BB experience.)

In summary, Brundage Bike Park is an excellent destination for mountain bikers looking to experience trails without having to pedal up mountains. I’m kind of tired of always riding heavy e-MTBs, and getting a lift-assisted cross-country experience is a unique value proposition. If you want to explore the terrain and take photos, Brundage is a beautiful destination, and some of my favorite photos of the summer were taken here. Riders looking for a modern, progressive bike park experience, with jump lines and flow trails will be better served at the nearby Tamarack Bike Park, as Brundage offers more of a classic mountain biking experience. (New trails are currently in development that will add a modern flow trail experience to the trail network)
