Style Check: Castelli Cold Weather Kit

I almost hate to admit this, but I’ve actually been looking forward to cool weather just so I can try some of my new Castelli cold weather gear. I put together a really slick looking pink kit. Not only does it stay true to my feminine taste, but it is also functional, durable, breathable and kept me nice and warm — without over heating. Starting with a short sleeve base layer, the pink and white Viziata jersey kept my temperature even on long climbs in 40 degree weather. To combat the wind, I donned Castelli Confronto W jacket on the descents. The large back pockets on the Viziata jersey offered plenty of room for the jacket as well as my point and shoot camera, mini tripod, energy food, phone, money and chap stick.

On my bottom half I donned Tenerissmo 2 tights; the pink accents matched my Viziata jersey perfectly completing the look. I have a few pairs of the Tenerissimo 2 tights, and they’ve become my-go to pieces for cooler weather (40-55 degrees). The thermoflex fabric and KISS3 chamois are comfortable and warm on long rides. This weekend also marked the first time to wear the CW 4.0 WS Donna gloves, though they offered plenty of grip, on long fast descents I’ll need to add a layer to block wind as my finger started getting cold from the high speeds.  The cool weather ensemble was finished off with Diluvio shoe covers. I have several shoe covers (from other brands) and so far this is my favorite. It is the easiest to put on, did its job keeping the wind chill out and I really like the aesthetics – black and sleek with a scorpion. (my astrological sign is Scorpio)

Of course I had to find matching pink sunglasses and a pink helmet to complete my look. There is something about looking good while pedaling that keeps you wanting more.
