The asphalt pump track at the new Redding Bike Park might just be the best paved track we’ve ridden to date. The builders at the Redding Trail Alliance really get what makes for a fun track design. The outside line can be ridden by all ages and skill levels, while also accommodating a whole team of high school mountain bike racers at the same time.
TLDR;
The Redding Bike Park is a work in progress, with the paved pumptrack now completed and open to the public.
The asphalt pump track is open to BMX bikes, mountain bikes, scooters, and skateboards.

Sometimes it takes an army to get things done. The Redding Trail Alliance is the local team of trail builders and advocates that managed to get this project to the finish line. Read more about the bike park project here.

A dream realized
Like so many bike construction projects, the Redding Bike Park was but a dream for years, passed along until the torch was picked up by the Redding Trail Alliance. Partnering with the City of Redding, they helped it move closer to the finish line. The paved pump track was completed in fall of 2024 and is the first phase of the bike park project.

Redding is known for its outdoor recreation scene. Mountain biking is a big part of that, and the area is a cross-country mountain biking destination, with moderate winter weather allowing for riding most of the year. MTB Project lists 152 miles of trails within the Greater Redding area, while TrailForks lists 211 trails for the Redding area.

Riding the pump track: a design that works
We’ve traveled to ride a lot of pump tracks since we started our pump track guide. The layout of the Redding Bike Park pump track is one of our favorites yet. The outside line is well spaced, with a variety of rollable features including taller faces that act as dipped tabletop jumps at speed. One had an angled landing that rode like a hip jump and was super fun.
After I arrived, I shot some photos of locals enjoying the track before a high school league team rolled in. Dozens of riders all enjoyed the track at once, in a massive train of kids and adults looping the outside line of the track counterclockwise.

If you’re a fan of riding pump tracks and skills parks, it’s worth making the stop if you’re passing through the Redding Area. The best part is that the features actually seem to work for full suspension bikes in addition to hardtail bikes.
