At this point in time, basic logic dictates that we as a society should recycle as much as we can. It really isn’t that hard; it’s about changing our habits. We avoid using single use water bottles and instead grab from our stack of reusable stainless steel water bottles in our cupboard. We have a few stainless coffee to go cups we carry into Starbucks in the morning on the way to the trail. We even carry stainless steel wine glasses for camping, and now, thanks to Jon Gomez and his partner at CupsCo based just up the road in Berkeley, we’ve got a pair of stainless steel resusable cups for drinking beer at events.
According to Gomez at CupsCo, “Our whole goal is to be used in place of a plastic cup that will end up in the trash”.

The guys started the idea of producing reusable cups during a marathon beer pong session where they demolished a ridiculous amount of the classic red plastic party cups we’re all too familiar with. After seeing the massive amount of waste they created during their binge, they decided to make reusable beer pong sets.
Turns out the stainless steel reusable cups aren’t just socially responsible, they’re actually pretty sweet. We certainly enjoyed toting them out with us to a recent fundraiser for the SF Bike Park “Brews for Bikes.” We’ve also begun leaving them in our cooler for road trips to the bike park for juice, gatorade and other refreshments so we can purchase larger containers of juice instead of the smaller one-use serving sizes. They carry more volume than we thought on first glance, and hold a bit more than a pint. Pretty handy if you’re getting your cup filled up at events.

And of course they work pretty well when it comes to containing your beer. The guys apparently take their beer pong seriously, and you can find a full list of rules on their site, as well as a somewhat somber recommendation to avoid actually drinking the beer from cups you’ve been bouncing dirty balls into, as its a great way to get e. Coli added to your list of regrets the day after. Sound advice.
Cups start at $9.95, and they even offer silicone lids as an option so you can sip your drinks (preferably not beer when you drive, because that’s like, bad) in your car. They also offer custom bulk personalization to cups, koozies, and leather sleeves in bulk orders.
