The Corral Hollow Downhill was an underground downhill race held at a ORV area in the Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area put on by RideSFO in 2006 and 2007. Before then it had been known as the Groovy Gravity Games. Between the spring series of dual slalom and mountain cross races at Sand Hill Ranch and these events, the Bay Area surprisingly boasted a healthy gravity scene. (these days you’ve got to trek to Tahoe and Monterey for events)
After a recent #TBT post on Instagram, I came to the realization that the original post from the event in 2006 no longer lived anywhere on the web, as it was from a rather ancient iteration of the site’s prior branding. The original post is buried in a hard drive somewhere, but these days my photo library is significantly more organized. It’s been interesting to revisit these old photos, especially considering how much I’ve evolved as a photographer, and visual story teller.
Phil from RideSFO still has the original event website up including the results page, and although it was only 8 years ago now, it’s fascinating to see the names of the up and comers that are now familiar names in today’s enduro circuit. Check it out.
