Troy Lee Designs is a household name in the world of moto and mountain bike racing. Known for bold and bright color palettes and graphics, TLD is a common sight on the trail— on men. For the average trail riding woman, not so much.
Prepare for that to change. The 2015 TLD women’s collection has come a long way with their recent modifications on their Skyline shorts. The boxy, unflattering baggy cut is gone, replaced with an updated fit. This year’s collection now features an improved silhouette that is tailored and slimmer fitting, in a cut that accentuates curves without constricting movement.
Besides functionality and durability, fit for me is ultimately the deciding factor when it comes to buying. That said, when it comes to taking photos or wanting to stand out, a bit of color goes a long way.
Out of the 3 color-ways available, I was most excited about the Skyline Speeda in cheetah print. I love animal prints and when I first laid eyes on these, I had to have them. For those days when you are feeling fun, playful and want to be seen, these are the shorts that will take you there. I don’t think I’ve ever heard so many, “nice shorts” comments while riding.
Made with a polyester/spandex blend, these lightweight 2 way stretch shorts feature a lycra fly opening, zipper front and cargo pockets, and a ribbed spandex front stretch panel. The shorts speak for themselves so I was happy to see TLD paired them with a basic lightweight mesh polyester black v-neck jersey; anything else could result in a hot mess.
