Riders gathered at McInnis Park in San Rafael Wednesday for the Summit Shorty. A short track mountain bike race, the series runs for six weeks every Wednesday evening from April 22nd – May 27th. Hosted by Acme Bikes, the course is a mile long, primarily on single track with a short grind up on pavement and plenty of beautiful views. Riders can pre-register by calling Acme or just show up with $10 for on-site registration. It is also open to kids and middle school students.

After a ride at China Camp with my friend Jamie, she mentioned she was going to race the Summit Shorty later in the day. Tagging alone, we arrived at 4:30pm to pre-ride the course, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun the course was. Our Santa Cruz Highball hard tail 29er would be my preferred bike choice for competition, but I enjoyed the loop on my all mountain rig.
Since I am still recovering from a lower back strain, I decided to shoot some photos instead. Click on our Bermstyle Facebook page to view the gallery.
