Finding a good saddle can be a challenge, but it is worth the effort. We spend so much time intimately placing delicate parts of ourselves on them, so comfort is and should be a priority. Ideally our pick is also light in heft, and of equal importance to me, nice to look at. After bolting on a number of saddles to my bikes, I settled on on the women’s specific Allure Ti Alloy saddles from SDG.
When I was getting ready to build up a Santa Cruz Bronson c with the new magenta accents, I needed a saddle that was equally striking for my beautiful new build. Already a fan of the Allure Ti Alloy saddles, when I found it was available in a neon pink I had to have it!
With a listed weight of 285g for the ti-rail version the saddle, it’s respectably light in weight. The Allure has a slender nose and a relatively slender rear (for a women’s saddle) with a shallow rounded out cut out in the center — which places my sit bones evenly while seated. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the Allure was, especially on longer rides, because my initial reaction was that the saddle felt stiff.
And finally, this saddle has never given me the annoying crotch grab on steep descents.
The Allure Ti Alloy comes in 2 style options: the Anka Martin series, which has ridiculously cute embossed bird graphics in 3 color accents (I own this saddle in white/cyan) and the black Allure Ti-Alloy series which offers 4 color accents. I don’t know about you, but I love having color options to match my bikes!
The saddle also has a relatively low rail to top of the seat measurement. Last year, when Jason was running his large Santa Cruz Blur TRc with a 5″ adjustable height post, he ended up running the black one, due to the low stack height.
Of course, saddle preference is truly a personal thing, but if you’re in the hunt for a nice seat, I recommend giving this one a sit. I like it so much I run one on each of my bikes.
Full disclosure: my new saddle was provided by SDG (thanks so much Tyler!) to match my new build. I had to send my new fork in to get specially tuned for my light weight, but more details, better photos and a video edit is in progress and coming soon! (I’m also running a fresh pair of Pink SDG Grips to match)
