When it comes to ice retention, its hard to beat Rotomolded coolers. They’re fantastic for multi-day trips, but sometimes you just need enough capacity to hold post-ride snacks and drinks. While we own and have tested a number of soft coolers, we haven’t been impressed much with how well they can retain ice.
Our testers found the build feels solid, and that it aptly does the job of keeping things cold. It also has the benefit of being watertight, making it suitable for use on SUP (stand up paddleboard) and other waterbased activities.
We’ve used a number of coolers ranging in price points, and while this seems obvious, we found a direct correlation to the thickness of the cooler walls and ice retention. There also seems to be a sweet spot with price points as well, and at about $80, the Soft Pack represents a solid value.
The RTIC Soft Pack 20 Cooler sells for $79.99. Learn more at RTICOutdoors.com or shop RTIC Coolers on Amazon.com to support the site
