Leatt offers a full lineup of protective gear, apparel, and accessories. The helmets and protective gear are top notch, and they also make some of the best looking riding apparel, so I was looking forward to get some time in with the new collections.
A few seasons back we reviewed the DBX 5.0 All Mountain HydraDri shorts, and their midweight DBX 5.0 jersey, and we found them to high performers, and one of the sharpest looking kits without being over the top racey. The downside was waiting for lousy weather to get some use out of them. Since then, Leatt has updated the HydraDri shorts, adding 4-way stretch to the waterproof and breathable shorts and four season versatility.

Features
- 30.000mm waterproof / 23.000g/m² breathable HydraDri membrane
- 3-layer Waterproof seamless seat and back panels
- Pockets:
- Waterproof thigh pocket
- Two hip pockets
- Rear cellphone pocket
- 4-way stretch shell for increased comfort and feel
- Pre-curved knees and tailored fit for superior pedaling comfort
- Soft touch non-velcro waist adjustment with silicone grip
- Dirt, water and stain resistant fabric coating
- Waterproof zippers and multi-row reinforced stitching
- Reinforcement on knees
- key holder loop
- YKK Zippers
- Rear zipper-adjustable ventilation

The Leatt HydraDri 5.0 short features a 4-way stretch shell that retains breathability, with additional ventilation via water resistant zippers in the thighs. The addition of the stretch material and zippered pockets is huge; though we liked the previous model tested, compared to our other shorts, the heft of the material meant they were only utilized when the trails were wet or park riding, as they felt a bit much for all around use. Considering we’re mostly wearing pants at that point, the shorts fell out of our rotation. The updated stretch material utilized in HydraDri 5.0 adds versatility, and as such is now suitable for all riding conditions.

On the trail
As mentioned, I’ve spent time with previous editions of the HydraDri shorts and while they were great shorts, they were definitely wet conditions shorts. The 5.0 V22 edition retains the waterproof construction and a durable stain resistant coating, but adds a bit more stretch. If you find yourself spilling stuff on your clothes while driving… this is an awesome feature. (haha)
The fabric also feels lighter weight; with two zippered ventilation slots, the shorts worked well even in summer temperatures.

At $150, the AllMtn 5.0 shorts are the flagship models in the Leatt V22 collection. (the AllMtn 2.0 sells for $80 if you’re looking for a model at a lower price point) While the pricing may seem on the upper end for riding shorts, they’re comparable to other winter riding shorts, and the all weather versatility make them an investment worth considering. They also look great.

Leatt MTB AllMtn 2.0 Jersey
We previously posted about the Leatt Natural Range, and the company’s efforts to shift to more environmentally friendly materials and processes. Until now though, we haven’t actually been able to put it to the test. I’m pleased to report that the semi-synthetic materials are not only comfortable, but manage sweat and moisture well.

Features
- Utilizes Tencel high-performance material woven utilizing yarn made from recycled coffee grounds
- Unlike polyester, the fast drying material is biodegradable
- Overlock stitched seams add comfort
- Collar is neck brace friendly
- Tailored fit, casual multi-sport look
- Microfiber goggle wipe

I’m a fan of the casual, multi-sport aesthetic these days, and the Leatt AllMtn 2.0 top looks more like your favorite tee shirt than MTB race jersey. While Leatt does offer racier looking tops, its a great option for riders avoiding the moto racer look.
It fits great, works well on hot days and looks sharp paired with the shorts and rest of the Leatt ensemble, and is reasonably priced. What else can you ask for?

The Leatt AllMtn 2.0 MTB jersey retails for $49.99. Learn more about the Leatt apparel collection at Leatt.com or support the site and shop for Leatt gear now at retail partners JensonUSA or Competitive Cyclist.
