The Spinshift jersey material has a nice soft feel against the skin, and I found it more comfortable than many of the other sublimated graphic jerseys in my gear closet. There’s plenty of stretch with no limitation on mobility.

Though the material has lot of give, it was a tad snug at the wrists. If you like to pull up your sleeves when the temperatures rise, you’ll need to tug a bit more. I never had issues with moderating my temperature with the full zip front, but the bulk of my time riding in the top was on those brisk mornings that started with an over jacket or a vest.

Let’s talk about the hand drawn art graphic though! It’s offered in two color variations. The brighter version is referred to as “fireball/multi” color with the version in gray with the red elements called “black/lab gray.” The Spinshift Jersey is my first exposure to the Gorewear line as I don’t own any other Gorewear pieces, but I thought it paired well with black shorts and gray Giro New Road over shorts. If I had the brighter version, I’d definitely pair it with black shorts as well, as opposed to the olive green it’s paired with in the photos on the Gorewear site.

Whether or not the graphics are your cup of tea, it’s a unique piece. I liked the placement of the minimal Gorewear branding mark zipper. I also found the way the contour lines on the graphics were placed helped with the lines of ones figure. The contours of the top are almost super-heroic, and almost feel like muscle fibers, and considering the next to skin fit, I thought them to be form flattering. The lines at the bottom helped as well, and I liked that the graphic was a bit darker at the bottom.

At 5’10”, 172 lbs, and a 39.5 inch chest, I went with a size large based on the sizing guide on the site. I find it to be a good fit for my riding style and preferences. The bulk of my time wearing and testing the jersey out has been split between XC mountain bike rides and commuting on my drop bar cross bike equipped with Gravel King slick tires, but it would be great for gravel rides on cool spring mornings as well.
