Fun on the water with the Bote Highwater Pack
Whether you’re headed to the beach, to the pool, or out on the river or lake, the Bote sling has enough storage space to carry your hydration and snack essentials, plus quite a bit more.
Though many of my paddles tend to be fast paced training jaunts, the size and capacity of the Bote sling is a welcome feature, especially when paddling with my furry adventure cat Enoki.

I’ve been looking for a larger waterproof carry option for toting gear on bigger days on the SUP or canoeing, and the Highwater is a nicely sized solution. Though I have a range of waterproof roll top bags, they aren’t great for portaging gear from the car to the water for any real distance. The Bote sling wears very similar to a backpack, but features a cross strap similar to a messenger bag to keep it in place.
Being fully waterproof, it would be excellent for cycling and festival use as well. (assuming the venue allows it)
I have a number of paddle boards in the quiver these days, and while I tend to use a small roll top bag for training paddles, it’s nice having a larger capacity sling bag for social paddles that can easily accommodate a small lunch cooler, towel, change of clothes, cat snacks, camera, and more.

Most of my water related gear bags are of the roll top variety. Though waterproof zippers have been around for a while and in use by a number of reputable brands, I’ll admit I still get nervous to trust my digital camera in it and on the paddle board. While the zipper itself is water tight, it does have to be secured all the way, and user error is too much to risk with electronics.
Fortunately the easy solution is put the camera inside a small waterproof roll top bag, just in case.

I’m pleased to report that after being dumped in the water a number of times, and submerging the bag, the zippers proved effective at keeping my things dry. Of course, you’ll want to ensure you’ve fully zipped the sling anytime you access the contents.
Available in a range of colors, the Bote Highwater sells for $165. You can find them online at BoteBoard.com as well as Amazon.com.
