Bolle’s take on helmets is literally a transformer in the form of a helmet, ideal for a multi-sport athlete logging miles in a wide range of conditions. The unique aesthetic of the helmet is a pro or con depending on whom was asked, but all agreed the helmet would be a fantastic option for riders that travel frequently. We’ve taken to running LED lights full time on the road — especially commuting — and the detachable LED light (not pictured) was a much appreciated feature.
Fit was hit or miss with our crew. The helmet features a shape that fits oval heads, and as it was a miss with my oval head (sad face) it was passed on to other test riders for the duration of the review. The consensus?
The helmet rides cool in the summer — 31 holes make the helmet cool well, yet don’t allow objects to penetrate the shell as easily as a helmet with less, but larger holes. The two aero shells come off and go back on quite easily and with the shells installed the helmet rides surprisingly cool, possibly because the suns rays can’t get through…
The liner was nice to have on cold winter mornings, especially on windy days.
At $169.99, the addition of the liner, LED lights and sheer versatility make this helmet a value. It’s also available at lower price points without the accessories for riders that don’t require the winter ear coverage .
