My brother has been on a major push up initiative for the last few months and his dedication to logging 100 a day is motivating me to start thinking of a program for myself. Being a bike nerd, my thoughts go directly to how I can bring the bike into things and the best looking answer to this looks to be the ProPilot Pushup bar.
Yes, you don’t need a fancy fitness accessory to do a push up — but adding the context of the bar brings the bike back into things and there is also their ProPilot app for your smart phone for interactivity. The ProPilot bar clamp has a flat area you can position your phone on so that when you have the app running, it will count your reps but also provide commentary on your balance. There’s also a ride feature where you can look down to view a POV clip of a DH track, and pretend to pump along with the footage.
The kit includes a magnetic sticker to keep your phone balanced on the clamp unit and you can purchase the kit with or without the bars or grips. If you have a garage full of old bars and components, you’re already halfway there. The downside is they’re based in Europe and ship from there, so the cost of shipping could be a deterrent for us in the states. (They aren’t listed on Amazon either.)
