Imagine waking up one day with blurry vision. You can’t see quite right. Rubbing your eyes doesn’t seem to help, and the eye drops aren’t doing it either. You didn’t drink that much the night before did you? No, that can’t be it. A visit to your eye doctor offers some of the worst news you could possibly imagine. You’re diagnosed with a degenerative condition that has caused you to go gone blind in one eye, and the sight in the other eye is about to go as well. But there is a chance- a new procedure, unapproved by the FDA is your only hope to retain the limited vision you still have left.
The scary thing is that this is the reality for Nick Moore, a rider in Provo, Utah. Better known in the riding industry for being the designer and team manager for an emerging company called Demon Dirt. His only chance to save his vision (and his entire way of life) is the surgery, which because it’s unproven, isn’t covered by health insurance. The industry is pulling together to help raise funds for Nick.
We don’t normally pick up and regurgitate stories like this, but this is a seriously worthy cause. His left eye is already almost gone and he is rushing to try and stop his right one. Nick has to get major eye surgery very soon to stop the disease. The “I Ride for Nick’s Eyes” project has been started to help him pay for surgery. Thank you for your support.
