How Do I Get To Gateway Green?

Having trouble finding and locating Gateway Green?

Enough people have written in asking this that I figured I’d perform a public service and mock up a quick diagram on the best place to park. We of course recommend taking public transit as it drops you right off at the site. You’ll exit the Max Train at the Gateway Stop. Getting there by car is a bit more tricky.

Via I-84 East. If headed east from downtown Portland, take the Halsey exit and the first right into the Gateway Shopping Center. (NE 99th Ave)

Gateway Green itself lies between I-84 and I-205 and is not accessible by car, so you’ll need to park and ride your bike in via the I-205 bike path. The closest entrance is the Gateway Shopping Center, (IE, the Fred Meyers on 102nd Ave and Halsey) and you can park on the street in this area. (Note: previously riders were encouraged to use the Park & Ride and the Fred Meyers lot)

To reach the I-205 bike path from the Gateway Shopping Center, go through the Max Station stop and head north on the bike path. (right)

You can also pedal in from the north, entering the bike path via Maywood Park. The Max stop on this end is Park Rose, but it’s about a 10 minute pedal on the bike path to enter from the north. This is the preferred parking location for many riders, but due to complaints from local residents about street traffic, this parking area is actively being discouraged.

See you all there!
