It has been a unpleasant couple of weeks, filled with much more drama than was necessary, but we have finally wrapped up our lives in San Francisco. Stuffing the contents of my life into a 5×8 foot box in a warehouse was considerably more difficult than I had expected. Even after getting rid of three car loads of belongings, and then with Inga’s help, three more, we filled our unit to the ceiling.
The main thing is that we are finally done! Other than a few loose ends, we are now nomads without a place to call home, or a permanent address.
The drive north to Oregon was fairly uneventful, although initially I was concerned about the Thule bars on the car holding the two extra bikes. My ghetto tie-down job actually held up fine, with minimal wear and tear on the bikes. A welcome relief, after all the crap dealt with in the week previous. (two parking tickets, stolen bike parts, crazy neighbors, and a screaming drunk guy)
Oregon’s snow storms have let up, and we are continuing north towards Portland in the next few days- hopefully hitting up some indoor bike parks in the Eugene area. This is the last stop for our all mountain bikes and my Demo 7 though. We recently received word that our new rides have shown up in the IMBA office. Pretty cool. Our dirt jump bikes, a Black Market Mob and Specialized P3, are making the trip with us. Everything else is getting stored. Hopefully we’ll be able to fit a few days in on the slopes as well as some time on the local indoor rock gyms!
