Fixed gear SF streetstyle clip

Fixed gear freestyle continues to evolve in this video from iMinusD shot here in SF. I’ve ridden most of these spots on my Black Market Riot, and admittedly not half as well as these guys. Turns out my favorite treeride line in Golden Gate park is a lot more popular than I had imagined. To be honest, I’m not even sure what to make of the latest trend in fixed gear riding. I’ve ridden BMX, 29ers, 26″ dirt jumpers, and fixed gears, but not all at the same time. (bmx + fixed gear= ?) Whether this floats your boat or not,  you have to admit these guys have some skills.

From an outsider’s view point, the bikes are getting kind of interesting. Are they freestyle 29ers with fixed hubs? I mean, if a freewheel was added, you’d basically have an over built rigid 29er. Or are they a brakeless BMX bike with 700c forks and a fixed hub? And when you start calling yourself a fixed gear freestyler, do you have to sell your 20″?

It’s enough to make me want to put a short stem on my 29er and some taller bars to see if I can 180 the thing. Check out more of their edits on the iMINUSD Vimeo channel.
