It can be a challenge to mount a water bottle on frames with limited clearance due to the frame design or a piggyback shock. Some manufacturers throw in the towel and don’t bother even adding bottle cage mounts, forcing riders to resort to using an exposed downtube mount or a hydration pack on even short rides. Fidlock, the brand known for its easy clipping magnetic buckles — currently most commonly utilized on helmet strap buckles in the bike world — recognized an opportunity to implement their magnetic mechanical mounting system to come up with a solution for riders squeezing hydration into small spaces. The Fidlock TWIST bottle system pairs a magnetic base with a connector that integrates with a water bottle that can be quickly twisted and removed from the bike and reattaching as easily as it comes off.
The small 450 bottle is the stand out product for riders challenged with frames and the smallest of spaces, but they also have a second 600ml/20.29oz bottle option that’s sized to match the capacity of a full size bottle. They also offer a mount with a strap for frames that lack the neccessary water bottle cage threads.
Complete bottle and base kits start at $40 retail, but bottles and bases are also available separately should you want to mix and match or want to pick up a spare.
