If you store your bikes vertically but hate getting them up and down, the Feedback Sports Velo Hinge might be a solution to your bike storage headaches. Case in point: storage in our garage is handled in the most budget-friendly style we could find: two 2×6 planks are bolted into studs with bike storage hooks screwed in. Bikes are spaced in close together to fit as many as we can. It’s a classic way of doing it and it does the job. However, actually getting bikes up and down is a massive pain in the ass; I’m constantly trying to swivel some bars left and some right just to make the room to engage the tire on the hook.
The folks at Feedback Sports recognize this issue and created a pivoting bike storage hook that eases this pain. The Velo Hinge, is a bike storage hook mounted to a swiveling plate that allows it to safely swing sideways. It includes a rear-wheel bumper to keep the rear wheel from sliding into the next bike, potentially causing a cascading disaster. It’s a clever solution that upgrades bike storage and takes it to the next level without being overly complex.
- Hinged design allows bike to swing to the right or left to create more space in cramped storage areas
- Wheel bumper stabilizes bike and prevents swaying
- Powder-coated steel; 50 lb. load capacity
The downside? If you have a stack of bikes (like we do) the retail price of $26.00 could add up quickly. That said, considering how much we have invested in our rides, it’s a one-time investment that could reduce a lot of headaches.
