After the frame, the part on our bikes we often obsess over the most is the stem. Besides its crucial role as that bit that attaches the handlebar to the fork steerer, it’s also what we end up staring at the most during those long, grinding climbs up mountains. So when carbon wheel and bar manufacturer Enve released an amazing looking alloy stem, we had to know more.
Enve has been offering a carbon stem to pair with their bars for some time. However, while we happily run a number of carbon components on our rides, we’ve experienced crash damage and broken stems in the past and that’s just not a component we like to run in carbon. (not to mention the sticker shock of the retail price of the thing) A beautiful alloy model with the same level of engineering and a beautiful jewelry-like finish though — that’s something we find ourselves lusting over.
Plus it’s hella light brah. The 35mm stem with the 31.8mm bore weighs a measly 115 grams, with the 50mm coming in at 139 grams. Oooh, yeah.
We could talk about our obsession with shiny bike parts more, but you’re probably more interested in clicking the link so you can put it on your xmas list.
At $125, it’s not exactly the budget option, but what pretty bike parts are?
