Elk Grove Bike Park … work in progress

The Sacramento area gets another step closer to being a riding destination with the addition of the Elk Grove Bike Park, just 10 minutes south of Sacramento. Technically, this makes a total of three bike parks in the area, not counting BMX tracks. While not yet completed, the construction of the Elk Grove Bike Park continues with a pump track and several lines already open to the public.

With the signage already posted as well as benches, trash cans, and other park amenities, it appears the only work left is the construction of the dirt features. The pump track is up and running, and while it could still use a bit of reworking to improve the flow, local kids are already all over it.

In addition to the pump track, a beginner and intermediate dirt jump line is also ridable. There was a larger jump line as well, but only the first few lips were good to go. You can view the official bike park plans here.

Hopefully the park will end up as a place where beginning dirt jump riders can transition fully into intermediate and then advanced riders. As much of the construction (if not all, from what I understand) is being made by volunteers, I’m guessing it could be next spring before it is fully completed.

The beginner line, like a lot of smaller jumps, is almost more tricky to jump for 26″ wheels than the intermediate line.
