The 4×4 Sprinter is bad ass.
We’re obsessed with buying a van to build into a mobile adventure rig. Recently we visited the folks at Outside Van in Portland, Oregon, and had the opportunity to test drive our dream machine and collaborate on their latest marketing video.
As you can probably tell, we could get used to this pretty quickly.
The OSV Rainmaker starts off as a stock 4×4 170 2500 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Cargo Van before getting a complete custom treatment.

Plenty of space for pre or post ride hanging out.
Amenities for comfort on the road include:
- Sleeping and sofa options
- Galley and Kitchen
- H20 package
- Fully enclosed shower
- Outlets for 110v, USB, 12V & ARB
- Solar panels for keeping things powered
- Diesel heating
- LED interior lighting
- 12v Refrigerator
And those are just the highlights.

12v refrigerator for post ride refreshments and cooking on the road.

Plenty of storage for food and snacks

Chairs that swivel for hanging out. Note the open space, which makes the van feel larger and less cramped.

A bench seat is key for chilling and hanging out when not out adventuring; or in Inga’s case, getting ready to head out on the town. The seat also folds down for a second sleeping platform.

Storage for bikes and gear inside the van is key for keeping things secure on the road. The VersaTie mounting track system keeps gear from bouncing around.

The 3 panel sleeping pad folds up so you can sit upright on the sleeping platform.
If you’re going to visualize living the #vanlife, you may as well do it right.
