New shoes from Fiveten were on display at Crankworx that had us doing a double-take. Looking less like the traditional skateshoe and more like a trail running model, the new model, dubbed the Trailcross had our attention.
Featuring dual branding from both parent company Adidas and Fiveten, the hightop model had our attention. Aimed at trail builders as well as riders, it features a neoprene sleeve to keep those annoying pebbles and water out, as well as offering ankle protection. It’s lighter than the skate style models and the laces look a bit easier to work with.
The Trailcross uses a trail running midsole, but keeps the padding at the heel for protection.
Or are we now calling them Fiveten/Adidas now? That last part is a bit worisome, as the pioneering footwear brand feels like its on the verge of being absorbed and disappearing. That said, FiveTen’s game changing stealth rubber still is as good as ever, and with the shoes getting lighter and new models being introduced, we’re looking forward to trying these on the trails.
I’m the most intrieged by the high-top version which is said to also be aimed at trail builders. Seeing as how I’m regularly dumping dirt out of my shoes after a dig session, I’m especially interested in trying them.
The gaitor at the cuff looks awesome. I’m not as stoked on the Adias logo… I’m not sure I’m interested in wearing an Adias MTB shoe.
That said, this streetwear oriented riding shoe inspired by the Samba… I am pretty much going to buy these, because I need to have them.
I wasn’t able to find too much info on the new models as this was just a preview, but hopefully we’ll see these models officially launch soon.
