Construction crews have been building a service road parallel to the NE Halsey Street overpass and under the I-205 and I-84 freeways for the last month or so. Are we going to finally have a safe and direct option to access Gateway Green from the west side of the 205 freeway? <Update> After reaching out […]
Gateway Green Build Journal
Gateway Green is one of Portland’s newest park acquisitions - 25 acres of unused open space was developed into a urbn recreation destination, including a bike park. The bike park features two gravity fed flow lines, jump lined and a skills area, two miles of single track trail with an adaptive MTB loop and a paved Velosolutions Pumptrack.Located in East Portland, you can learn more about the Gateway Green Project and the Dirt Lab at www.gatewaygreenpdx.org
Finding it: Gateway Green is not accessible by car, as it is surrounded by freeways. To access the park, you enter via the I-205 Bike Path via the Gateway/Northeast 99th Avenue Transit Center (you have to cross through the train stop to reach the bike path, which can be confusing for first-time visitors) or Maywood Park to the North.

Gateway Green, Portland’s first real attempt at a bike park, has been closed for several months now with phase two construction currently ongoing. With the trails closed, the small bit of sanctioned trail in the city is almost non-existent. Gateway Green Bike Park, DirtLab Evolution – a Trail Building Story
The Gateway Green Bike Park and our efforts with the DirtLab Evolution project received a nice shout out in the bike issue of the Willamette Week (a local paper) recently thanks to an op-ed contribution penned by local ripper and pro level rider Spencer Burback. If you’re a regular at the park, you may recognize […]
Gateway Green Build Sessions: Linda’s Line Trail Work (UPDATED)
When it comes to Gateway Green trail enhancement projects, one of the areas inquired about the most is Linda’s Line. Linda’s Line, AKA the single track route down the grass covered hillside at Gateway Green, starts just inside the south gate and sweeps back and forth across the hillside. Initially imagined as a climbing trail, […]

Continuing the work began last weekend, (by Chris Rotivik and myself) we continued our focus on the remodel of the Toe Line Trail. For those unfamiliar, the Toe Line runs along the hillside and features […]
Enhancing the Experience: the Cliff Trail at Gateway Green
What if we could have a trail system like Sandy Ridge within Portland city limits? Hopefully some day we’ll have a quality urban trail experience that doesn’t require two hours of driving (it’s an hour there, another one back) to reach. Until then, why not make the most of what we have? Last year we […]

How Do I Get To Gateway Green?
Having trouble finding and locating Gateway Green? Enough people have written in asking this that I figured I’d perform a public service and mock up a quick diagram on the best place to park. We of course recommend taking public transit as it drops you right off at the site. You’ll exit the Max Train […]
