Last Friday at Nemo, we saw a few bike scenes mix it up together thanks to the lure of free entertainment, free beer, good times and some swag. Highlights of the evening included a bike art show, Goldsprints, a fixed gear best trick jam, and a bunny hop contest. With hundreds of people in attendance throughout various points in the evening, it made for an interesting mish-mash, with more than it’s share of girl jeans, tattoos, and tons of bikes strewn about everywhere.
I made it out for the bunny hop contest, and got a few decent pics, though it was tricky, as another photographer’s flash made me switch gears in my lighting attempts. Seeing as how I brought the bare minimum in gear, I was happy with a few of the shots I got.
The bunny hop contest had about 20 entrants, and pitted BMX vs. MTB and Fixed,(not really fair to the fixed gear crowd, but who does freestyle on a bike that can’t coast anyway?) with third place going to Charlie Sponsel who was representing us of the 26″ crowd. (instead of his previous rig- a Tonic with 24″s) riding his new Evil Faction dirt jumping machine.

Considering he just finished building up his bike, he did a good job. First went to Pro BMX rider Chester Blacksmith, with second going to Shad Johnson of Goods BMX.
The art show and the Goldsprints were well attended as well, with the beer running out just after the bunny hop contest- right when I was ready for one! Check out more pics on my photography blog here.
