Gerber GDC Belt with integrated tool
On road trips, hikes and long rides in the backcountry wearing a belt can come in handy, especially if it’s one of these belts. Seeking out belts suitable for adventures, we found five that stood out, ranging in functions from being waterproof and stretchy, to models with hidden tools, to full-on survival kit functionality.
Here are five options for your next belt, packed with uses in addition to holding up your pants.
Alpenlore Adventure Belt
Alpenlore Adventure Belts can be customized with a number of functions including paracord, a ferro rod or survival kit. You have the option to choose between a Cobra Buckle, or Polymer buckle options. Starting at $70 for the base model belt with paracord.
Slidebelt Survival Belt
The SlideBelt Survival Belt is clean and classic looking enough to wear daily but hidden under its demure exterior lies an integrated folding knife with a bottle opener, LED flashlight and fire starter. The belt is UV protected and waterproof, making it suitable for all types of activities and has a unique ratchet system that allows for quick and easy adjustments.
At $180.00, the Slidebelt isn’t cheap, coming in as the most the most expensive belt on our list.
Arcade Nomad Belt
The Arcade Nomad Belt is made from weather proof materials with a bit of stretch and features a built in strap for hanging stuff like a carabiner and keys.
The Nomad belt sells for $26.00
Gerber GDC belt tool
The Gerber GDC belt features a buckle that stores a removable multi-tool that can open a bottle, pry open a can of paint or tighten a loose screw. The belt itself is fashioned from heavy gauge nylon and lists for $61.00.
The Wilderness Original Instructor Belt
The Original Instructor belt designed to be very strong. How strong? Strong enough to be used-for-emergency-rappelling strong. Although not intended to replace a rappelling harness, its intended as an emergency option to clip into when there is risk of falling. (I so want one of these for the next time I clean the gutters) It’s also a popular belt for those that carry. I have a knock-off belt that looks just like this I acquired at REI. At $50.00, the original isn’t terribly expensive, and should hold up considerably longer.
