The big news at this year’s Sea Otter DH was Aaron Gwin’s win on a 29″ wheeled Specialized Enduro. It was a super competitive and stacked field with all of the top riders finishing within one second of each other. Sea Otter is known for being more jump track oriented and less a World Cup quality DH course, and it resulted in a full range of bikes being used by riders in the competition, from short travel slalom rigs, all mountain trail bikes in both 26″, 27.5″ and 29″ variations, to full blown DH rigs. Things are getting straight weird up in here.
