THE FAM JAM – The Folsom Fam Jam went down Friday September 12. Presented as the Folsom Bike Park’s first dirt jumping competition, the comp featured pro-level riding, as well as an amateur class in two catagories: BMX and MTB.
The course started off with a huge wood kicker sponsored by Redbull. Booting riders up in to a hip, they landed on the large start hill and had two pro-level lines to choose from. The line on the right was the bigger of the two, and consisted of a roller into a large double, that was followed by a second large double that also doubled as a hip. All the lines ended with a huge wall ride.
Andrew Taylor throws down a big no foot can can
The jumps were finished up just a day before the comp, with local pro-bros Randy Spangler, Drew Powers, and Mike Haderer amoung the group ensuring a good course. The other line was a six pack that started off with a six footer and growing progressively.
All the riders were throwing down out of their bag of tricks. Tail whips, no foot can cans, no handers, 360s, back flips and flip variations were just some of the items that were thrown down.
There was a solid turn out from the local pro rippers, with Jamie Goldman and Andrew Taylor taking first and second. Brian Miller, AKA Brian the Bmxer rounded out the top three. In practice AT was looking like he wanted the win, and was throwing down constantly. Unfortunately for him, Jamie opened up in the finals to edge him out for the win.
